Whenever my suitor would come for a visit at home, I would always prepare a special food for him. Most of the time these would be cookies, cakes, pizza, or chocolate crinkles. But one thing that annoys me is when my son plays around the kitchen, especially Scott, who loves to fool around with the spatula, and act as a fencer in front of his brother, Jim. There was also a time when he grabbed the kitchen knife and ran around the wet floor. He slipped, and lucky for him, because he let go of the knife before he totally smashed on the floor.
Jim is only sitting at a chair, watching me cook. Sometime he makes use of two spoons, and imagines it as robots. He cannot move much or run around because of his severe disease condition. It is only Scott who loves to play silly games in the kitchen, and it causes big trouble, especially when I would like to have a peaceful mind while preparing the perfect food for Raj.
To help solve the trouble in the kitchen, I gave up scolding my youngest son. Instead, I bought a new video gaming device and allowed him to play as much as he wants. Anyway, Raj often visits our house on weekends, so video games are restricted during school days. It is only a way to destruct my son from going into the kitchen while I’m busy cooking. Well, that is how to solve it. It’s by making a contract to my naughty son that he can play his favorite video game, as long as he don’t go to destruct me in the kitchen again.

I am not really into techie stuffs. I own a mobile phone, but I do not really consider it a very important device. I can live without it, as long as there are public payphones around the city.
But if there were two gadgets or devices I could not do without, first, it would probably be my mechanical insulin pump. This is very important for me, especially that I was diagnosed to have type II Diabetes Mellitus last year. Without this device, I would probably end up having complications of my disease. I am also careful to maintain my normal sugar level, as well as the insulin demands of my body, so that I could also prevent the onset of my other disease condition, which is the Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The other device that I carry for my self is the mini battery-operated fan. I got this from my physician who gave it to me to aid me during hot weather. I sweat a lot, so in cases where I am situated on a very hot and humid environment, I have a gadget that can cool me off.
In addition, I really need to cool my body, so that I would not experience migraine and eventually get pale and weak. I need to maintain a normal temperature, especially during warm weather. These are the two gadgets that really matter to me. These may be extraordinary, but these help me to function normally as a nurse and a mother. Other gadgets are only secondary for my needs.

Life is odd in certain levels. You could hardly grasp the essence of certain things. Some anticipation can rise up your anxiety as well as when events come to an end. The end of the holidays has brought some point of loneliness. This feeling sometime is inescapable. It just happens. From all the preparation, even the excitement of motioning to it, the rush of finishing some errands or work, and the exuberance of celebrating the holidays, some can not avoid the feeling of unknown disappointment after all the celebration of the holidays.
My kids too can not help but be sad that holiday is over. In some point, we all can not get enough of happiness. Life is a constant struggle I must say. We somehow have to face it. And despite how swift happiness can be, let us just be grateful of the things that we have and let go of the things that are simply passing. Contentment is a word that can bring you a long way and help you stay away from the road of bitterness. Endings can be lonesome but on the hand makes you look forward again for the next holiday to come. It might be hard for you to get up and get back to the routines of life but let us face it that is what life is. Beginnings are always exciting but endings are not. But sometimes too, you can not wait for the end to come. That is some antithesis of life. But regardless of how you are feeling, live one day at time and enjoy it in full.

I am a kind of person who is goal oriented, determine and strong. Raising two boys on your own makes you the kind of person. I believe you have to be since two young lives are depending on you. Perhaps this orientation has to be given credit to my parents who brought me with their strong Christian values. Had it not been for them, I myself might have been torn apart the day I lost my husband, left with two young boys. Somehow you have to make right choices to go through the tough reality of life. And Christmas season is one of those tough things you need to go through in life considering I juggle work and parenting. It is a tall thing to do. Really, Christmas makes you pull a lot of strings to be with your boys at the same time still keep your job. As a nurse, I have work shift that requires some sacrifices in the family. There is this school program that I would miss attending, or some family dinner. But one thing I made sure, I have to be with my children during Christmas. I don’t want them to suffer Christmas blues. I have to make prearrangement at work to get few days off. It is difficult to make some bargain to be able to get the arrangement. Despite it, I would not allow Christmas stress to get into me. It is hard to be affected by it especially I have two boys who one way or another might be affected by it too. I have to be positive in life to spare my kids from the consequences of my decisions.

Ever since my husband died, I never experienced a family vacation that I can cherish most. I always wanted to go to Disneyland, or in Hollywood, and experience all the wonderful things that my co-nurses have been sharing to me. But now that I am left alone with my two so, Jim and Scott, I guess I will learn to accept that my dreams to travel will soon fade away. But not so soon though, in fact it will never fade away. After I met Raj, A CEO of a multi-million company, my dreams of going to the places where I wanted to be will soon come true. I never ask him to take me there; in fact, he never heard a word about it from me. But how did he know I wanted to travel? I think he discerned it, after I smiled when he mentioned he has plans to take me, not on Disneyland or in Hollywood, but in Egypt. I felt that my life is filled with so much excitement and elation. I hug him for that. But then again, I thought about it twice.
What about my two sons? Well, I never expected that he would ask me if it is okay to take them with us. Then my world was full of luck, or better yet, it was blessed because of Raj. The next morning he bought a ticket for four to Egypt, and we will also visit the Netherlands next month. Finally my dreams of traveling came true. I thank Raj, and I love him, not because he gave what I want, but found ways that we can enjoy as one family.

Every mom desires to prepare birthday parties for her beloved kids, and I am not an exception. I love more than desire to have a simple, yet memorable and exciting birthday party for my son, Mike. So what are in my checklist?
The first thing that I will be considering is the venue. Maybe, the lawn is perfect, and I hope it will not rain on the bid day. The next to ponder on is the theme of the party itself. My son will be turning seven this year, so kids that age really loves to lay, and collect toys. My son loves his collection of dinosaurs, so perhaps, I can consider having a “Jurassic Land” party atmosphere. Wouldn’t it be thrilling enough for the little guests?
The next stop is the cake. Since my son is much more imaginative than ever, I would probably bake a cake with a big T-rex on top of it and a seven candles surrounding it. The name in the cake will be made from blue icing, and candy sprinkles will add color on it. The menu will be consist of spaghetti, fried chicken, hamburger, French fries, and of course everyone’s favorite dessert, ice cream. This may seem so unhealthy, but what the heck, it’s the kids’ taste that rules!
Clown is a “no-no,” so most likely I would ask my husband, Adam, to find a dino costume to match the theme. Little kids may not be happy about mascots anymore compared to children ages four to five years old, but a party without a mascot would be as boring as having veggies for lunch (well, kids can say!). And to top it all, games will be prepared for more fun and elation! I would ask my son to invite his classmates for his big party. His teachers can come, as well as our relatives and neighbors. When my birthday preparations for my son will go smoothly, this party will definitely be a blast!
